Q3 2022 release automated loading from a source system
Nachdem die SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) enabled the combined use of several Data Actions about a year ago through the introduction of Multi Action, it is now expanding the Multi Action repertoire to include the Data Import Step (data import from SAP Analytics Cloud. This makes it after the Q3 2022 release It is now possible to automatically load data from a source system into the SAC.
This change brings a significant benefit to the entire planning cycle. For example, the import of actual data can be carried out using the data import step in the multi-action and then the planning functions for the forecast can be triggered. As a last step, you can also add the publishing of the changed version. The entire process can thus be integrated into a multi-action, which can then be triggered manually in a story or application by the end user. Alternatively, there is the option of sequentially displaying the entire planning process as part of the use of the calendar. We would like to present these different scenarios to you in more detail at this point.
Create a Data Import Step in a Multi Action of the SAP Analytics Cloud
To create a Data Import Step, a data model with a data import is required. This can be selected after adding the step in the designer of the multi action.
Add more steps
Depending on the requirements, further steps can be added within the multi action. In our example, we add a Data Action Step that copies the imported data to the plan version. Then another version management step that publishes the plan version.
Possibility 1: Run Multi Action SAC in a story
If the process defined in the multi-action is to be triggered manually by a user as required, execution in a story is recommended. For this purpose, a planning trigger is added that contains the multi-action.
Possibility 2: Add Multi Action SAC to the calendar
Alternatively, the multi-action can be entered into the calendar as a task. Here it is possible to have the multi-action run via the task, for example on the 1st of each month. Thus, the process would be automated and would not have to be performed manually.
