The SAP Analytics Cloud
The SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) is a self-service tool and SAP's strategic solution for business intelligence, analytics and planning. With SAC, SAP provides all analysis functions in one product, both for end users and for management and the IT level. The database on the basis of which values are displayed, analyzed and changed in dashboards and other components in the SAC represents the data model. The data model can therefore be seen as a source that summarizes the data for the different planning and analysis components provides. There are different options for filling the data model.
Possibilities for importing data into the SAP Analytics Cloud
The quickest and easiest way is to import a local file, such as an Excel or CSV file. This gives you the option of creating a planning version, editing the data there and writing the changed data back to the original system.
Live Connection SAC
The live connection, on the other hand, draws the data from the system in real time. An advantage of this is that the data is obtained directly from the original system and does not leave the company network. Only metadata is exchanged here with the SAP Analytics Cloud. Such a live connection is ideal for quickly analyzing data in reports with dashboards and tables without having to re-import each time. Since maintenance takes place in the original system, the current values are always available. A data source in the data model is required for the Live Connection.
SAP S/4HANA Query as data model for the live connection
This represents a query in the S/4HANA system. There is the option to choose from a large number of standard queries provided by SAP or to define one yourself. The dimensions and key figures are then automatically created in the data model after the query has been selected in SAC. In order to improve performance, there is the option of hiding or filtering individual dimensions in order to only work with the data that is required. For example, if you want to analyze values from Group Reporting, you can access both your consolidated data and data at the level of the individual financial statements without having to make many settings in the SAP Analytics Cloud. The currency conversion is also automatically taken over from S/4HANA.
