SAP Analytics Cloud Q4 2024 Release

With the fourth quarter of 2024, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) is taking its functionality to a new level and strengthening its position as an indispensable tool for data analysis and business planning.

The current Q4 update offers an impressive range of new features and optimizations aimed at further improving both efficiency and the user experience. In this article, we present the most exciting innovations and enhancements of the Q4 update and show how they make daily work with SAC even more powerful and intuitive.

Improvements in the Data Analyzer

The latest update introduced several exciting improvements to Data Analyzer. Users can now show or hide totals in tables and add cell charts directly to table measures.

In addition, additional styling options are available that allow for even more individual design, as well as new chart types that offer expanded visualization options. These innovations make analyzing data even more flexible and appealing.

Data Actions – Support for dynamic planning areas

In the area of planning, further steps in the multi-phase revision were taken in this release, such as how planning areas can be created and managed for users. This is a decisive step forward, as more targeted control of the data volumes improves performance and optimizes resource management.

The first foundations for this have already been laid in the last quarters of 2024. However, with the Q4 release, it is now possible to dynamically expand existing planning areas within a data action - taking into account the limits set by the data action configuration (DAC) and/or data locks.

This new behavior applies regardless of where the data action is triggered: Be it within stories or via the Excel add-in, as soon as an existing planning area exists, it can be flexibly adapted.

Enterprise Planning: Version creation and deletion directly in the Modeler

The new update now makes it possible to create and delete versions directly in the modeler, which makes version management much easier. Users can now create new (empty) versions directly in the modeler and easily delete existing versions. This function simplifies working with different versions and offers more flexibility and control when managing planning versions.

Story Design: Improvements for diagrams and migration

The Q4 update brings valuable new features in the area of story design. Invisible charts that are involved in the scaling of measurements and axis alignment can now also be taken into account when loading.

In addition, the SAC now supports the mass migration of multiple classic stories into the optimized user interface, enabling a smooth transition to the new story experience.

Another helpful new feature is the ability to adjust the bar width at widget level:
Story designers can now customize the width of bars in the styling panel, overriding the default values for chart scale and width, providing even more flexibility in designing and customizing stories.
