SAP extends the maintenance of the consolidation software SAP BCS/4HANA!
The maintenance of the SAP SEM-BCS (on the market since 2002) is valid until the end of the year 2027, depending on the installation mode. SAP also offers an optional extended maintenance from January 1, 2028 to December 31, 2030.
The maintenance information for the "successor product" SAP BCS/4HANA has so far remained an exciting question for customers, users, partners and consultants.
💡With version 14 of SAP Note 1330000 - SAP BW/4HANA, Business Consolidation Add-On ( \"BCS/4HANA\" ) there is now clarity. Due to the decision of SAP Solutions, the maintenance for BCS/4HANA has been adapted to the maintenance strategy of SAP BW/4HANA on 2040.
For companies, there are two options with corresponding planning security for the preparation of consolidated reporting: SAP BCS/4HANA and SAP S/4HANA for Group Reporting. The following must be observed here:
As a very mature solution, SAP BCS/4HANA is in maintenance mode (further information on the maintenance of SAP BW/4HANA can be found in SAP Note 2741041 and the blog cited there).
SAP S/4HANA for Group Reporting is SAP's strategic solution with constant further developments, available as a cloud or on-premise variant (further information on the SAP strategy can be found in SAP Note 2866878 - Product strategy for consolidation/business closing/group reporting).

SAP S/4HANA for Group Reporting can work integrated on a SAP S/4HANA platform together with the individual financial statements or can also be used as a stand-alone consolidation tool independent of the source systems. In this case, company-specific mapping functions of the Group Reporting Data Collection (GRDC) make it easier to integrate the individual financial statements.
