With the current release of SAP S/4HANA Cloud for Group Reporting, some interesting innovations have found their way into the consolidation on the S/4HANA platform.

1. Improving data reporting from a non-SAP S/4HANA system
With the new release and the use of the Group Reporting Data Collection, any source system can now be connected in order to import reporting data into Group Reporting. For this it is necessary to implement an automatic interface (API) in the upstream system. This interface is provided by SAP. A mapping can be defined via the Group Reporting Data Collection, which enables the transfer of the data from the non-S/4 system to the Group Reporting structures.
The transfer of the data can be scheduled and automated in one process step. Once the process has been scheduled, they do not need to take any further manual steps.
2. Upload function for custom fields
Customer-specific fields are needed if the standard data model is not sufficient to cover customer requirements for group reporting. These requirements can be, for example, comments, details on posting lines or other information relevant to evaluation.
With the new release, these fields can be supplemented using an upload function. For this purpose, all fields are enriched in a download template and can be loaded into the S/4HANA Group Reporting after recording in an Excel sheet.
As before, customer-specific fields can be checked via validation.
3. Simplifications in customizing
Next up is usability with this release. On the one hand, simplifications in the creation and selection of selections have been added. When creating or changing a selection, you no longer have to use the technical key of a characteristic, but can use labels, which can be descriptive names. In the future, there will be a value help for the selection of the individual values.
As a further simplification of the customizing and the evaluation, a selection for the output of the leading sign has been added in the area of hierarchy maintenance. Inherent in the system, the signs for assets and expenses are given as positive and for liabilities and income as negative. The new function allows a hierarchy to be specified to have its sign reversed. For example, if you want to display a profit and loss account with the technical sign, you could use this function to show the income as positive and the expenses as negative.
In countries where the investments are not valued at cost but at equity, this accounting is simplified with a separate function in S/4HANA for Group Reporting Release 2102. We would be happy to explain the so-called equity pickup to you in more detail. Contact us!
