Find out more

Reading time: 8 minutes

Just in time for the start of the third quarter of 2025 (QRC3), SAP is presenting an update for SAP Analytics Cloud that clearly focuses on increasing productivity and user-friendliness – with a particular focus on the targeted use of artificial intelligence in reporting and planning. In this article, we take a detailed look at the Top 5 innovationsthat experts believe offer the greatest added value for users – from AI-supported formula creation to optimized tables for more efficient work.

Whether you are a business user, controller, or decision-maker, these features help companies make data-driven decisions faster, more intuitively, and with less manual work.

New homepage design with customizable cards

With the Q3 2025 release, SAP Analytics Cloud introduces a completely redesigned home page concept. At the core of the innovation are five new, freely positionable cards, which, combined with expanded customization options, enable a customized work environment.

The new cards at a glance:

  • Onboarding Card – Offers a streamlined introduction for new and existing users. It includes links to interactive tutorials, learning paths, and an integrated search bar that leads directly to the relevant help documentation.
  • Quick Actions Card – Allows you to select up to four frequently used actions (e.g. Create Canvas, Create Model) for direct access without detours.
  • Just Ask Card – Integrates AI-supported Just Ask-Search directly on the homepage. Natural language input can be used to initiate analyses, select data sources, and predefine attributes.
  • Resource Card – Provides quick access to central information sources such as the SAP Analytics Cloud Community, release updates, the Roadmap Explorer or business content samples.
  • Favorites Card – Displays favorite files and folders and allows you to filter them by file type or folder structure.

In addition, existing maps such as Recent Files, Featured Files, Calendar Highlights and Data Change Insights Functionally expanded. New features include search and filter functions within the maps, as well as optimized filter logic for stories, models, and other content.

Customization options:

All cards can be freely positioned; the layout automatically responds to changes. Using the new Customize button in the top right, cards can be shown or hidden without having to go through the hassle of switching to the user settings.

With this revision, SAP is clearly prioritizing usability and personalization. Users receive direct access to the functions and information most relevant to them, which not only makes it easier to get started with SAC but should also sustainably increase usage frequency.

AI-supported formula creation

With the Q3 2025 release, SAP Analytics Cloud introduces AI-powered Advanced Formula Generation, significantly simplifying the development process for data actions. Two new AI features are available in the Advanced Formula Editor:

  • Generate Script – Creates Advanced Formula code directly from natural language business comments. Users formulate the desired logic in everyday language, and the AI automatically translates it into executable code.
  • Generate Comment – automatically generates a natural language description from existing Advanced Formula code, making complex formulas easier to understand and document.

This eliminates much of the manual effort required for both creating and documenting scripts. Readability and maintainability are significantly improved, especially in complex planning models.

This premium AI feature not only accelerates the implementation of complex planning logic, but also ensures greater transparency, traceability, and maintainability in the SAC planning process.

AI-generated chart summaries for PowerPoint

With the Q3 2025 release, SAP Analytics Cloud introduces a feature that significantly accelerates the step from analysis to presentation: AI-powered automatic chart summaries.

This feature identifies the key messages of a diagram in SAC and automatically generates a concise text description that can be directly imported into PowerPoint or other presentation media. Trends, anomalies, and relevant key figures are summarized in clear, everyday language – without the user having to write their own analysis.

Practical benefits:

  • Time saving: Elimination of manual description steps when creating presentations.
  • Consistency: Consistent wording in all reports and slides.
  • Quality: The AI automatically highlights the most important insights and avoids overloading with details.

This innovation not only speeds up the analysis process in SAC, but also closes the gap between data interpretation and decision presentation – a clear advantage for management meetings and board presentations.

Optimized table experience in Stories

Tables are among the most frequently used elements in SAP Analytics Cloud – whether for detailed planning data, variance analyses, or ad-hoc evaluations. With the Q3 2025 release, SAP is taking a major step forward: The new Optimized Table Experience combines the familiar functionality of classic tables with a modern, more consistent interface and numerous productivity improvements.

Important innovations at a glance:

  • Undo/Redo functionality – Allows you to quickly undo or redo changes without having to rebuild the table.
  • Mobile compatibility – Tables can now also be used comfortably on mobile devices.
  • Advanced tooltips – Thresholds can be shown or hidden when hovering over a cell with the mouse.
  • Improved data synchronization – Changes to filters or layouts are applied faster and more reliably.
  • New Builder Panel – Provides a more intuitive interface for customizing layouts, assigning dimensions, adding calculations, and filters.

In addition, the Optimized Table Experience covers six roadmap innovations:

  1. Blending for tables – including support for sorting, ranking, totals and custom ordering.
  2. New Builder Panel – Faster configuration without complex menus.
  3. Threshold tooltips – switch on or off specifically.
  4. New Client Calculations Panel – direct creation of key figures in the client.
  5. New Member Selector – Faster selection and filtering of dimension elements.
  6. Sorting and ranking improvements – more flexible controls and more options.

These adjustments make working with tables in SAC significantly more productive and offer a more consistent look and feel. Power users benefit from faster customization options, while casual users benefit from clearer and more intuitive operation – both on desktop and mobile.

AI-supported commenting

Another innovation is the AI-supported commenting function. Comments play a central role in the planning and reporting process, as they complement the raw numbers with important contextual information. With the help of Generative AI, users can now compose and process their comments more efficiently.

The function supports, among other things:

  • Sum up: Long explanations can automatically be condensed into short key statements.
  • Rephrase: Comments can be revised stylistically or formulated more precisely.
  • Translate: Comments are translated into the user's language based on their profile settings.
  • Aggregate: Comments from child cells can be collected and summarized at a higher level.

This makes the comment function not only smarter, but also more internationally usable – a decisive advantage in globally positioned companies.

The new features in SAP Analytics Cloud demonstrate how artificial intelligence makes planning and reporting not only more efficient, but also more user-friendly and internationally applicable. Companies benefit from faster processes, greater transparency, and improved collaboration across departments and national borders.

User-friendliness, automation, and AI are converging – opening up completely new possibilities for business users: acting faster, making better decisions, working more independently.
