The most important innovations for reporting, planning & administration

With the Q1-2026 release, SAP Analytics Cloud expands its functionalities in the areas of visualization, collaboration, story management, KPI reporting, and more. Live-Data integration. The focus is on new native chart types, versioning options for stories, a central comment dashboard, enhanced My Metrics functions, and the Live-Connecting planning models to Snowflake.

INSIRE provides a concise summary of the top features and their benefits.

New chart types: Area Chart and Pareto Chart

With Q1 2026, SAP Analytics Cloud expands its native visualization capabilities to include two new chart types: the Area Chart and the Pareto Chart.

The Area Chart helps users to better recognize developments and trends over time and to visually represent the relative size of individual data series.

The Pareto chart enables the identification of the most important influencing factors within a key performance indicator (KPI). It is based on a sorted cumulative calculation, exception aggregation, and calculated dimensions for ranking support. This allows, for example, revenue drivers or cost drivers to be quickly visualized.

The main advantages of this innovation:

  • Simplified representation of complex analyses
  • Faster identification of main drivers
  • More native visualization options without additional calculation logic.

Story Versioning: More control over development stages

The new story versioning framework allows designers to save, manage, and restore up to 10 major versions of a story when needed.

Versions can be created directly in edit mode via the save dialog. They can also be viewed, opened, or deleted via the file overview. Each version contains metadata such as creator, modification time, and change description. Opened versions are displayed in read-only mode.

The main advantages of this innovation:

  • Simplified, more secure approach to iterative development
  • Transparent tracking of changes
  • Easy reversion to previous versions

Comment Management Dashboard: Central Comment Control

To improve collaboration, SAP is introducing a new central comment dashboard.

The comment management system provides administrators with an overview of all models and their comments, including statistics columns and filter options. Comments can be deleted in bulk at the model or version level. It is also possible to copy comments between versions.

This makes comment management significantly more structured and efficient, especially in larger planning and reporting environments.

The main advantages of this innovation:

  • Central administration of all comments
  • Bulk deletion at model or version level
  • Copying comments between versions
  • Improved governance in collaborative environments

My Metrics: Reporting subscriptions and notifications

The My Metrics framework, which was introduced in 2025, will be significantly expanded in the Q1 release. A new feature is the ability to configure metric lists as subscription-based reports.

Users can subscribe to a metrics list, define a frequency, and specify recipients. Reports can be sent daily, weekly, or monthly. Additionally, users are only notified of changes, avoiding unnecessary notifications.

Subscriptions can be managed, paused, copied, or deleted. Email notifications summarizing changed metrics are also supported.

The main advantages of this innovation:

  • Automated KPI reporting
  • Targeted notification only for changes
  • Flexible subscription management
  • Greater personalization in self-service reporting

Live-Data connection for planning models to Snowflake

With Q1 2026, SAP Analytics Cloud expands the external Live-Data options for planning models around Snowflake.

The connection management allows you to LiveConnections to Snowflake can be established. Models can then be created directly with tables from Snowflake, without data replication.

The connection is made exclusively as Live-Storage variant, which allows external data sources to remain directly connected.

The main advantages of this innovation:

  • Enhanced integration options with cloud data platforms
  • No data replication required
  • Real-time access to external data sources
  • More flexible architecture for hybrid data landscapes

Conclusion

The Q1-2026 update strengthens SAP Analytics Cloud, particularly in the areas of visualization, collaboration, and data integration. New chart types enable deeper analyses, story versioning and centralized comment management improve collaboration, while My Metrics subscriptions and Snowflake integration create additional flexibility in reporting and planning architectures.

This further develops SAC into an even more powerful and integrated analytics platform for modern cloud landscapes.

INSIRE will gladly support you in using the new functions in a targeted manner and in optimally developing your analytics and planning processes.
