Even though the Q4 release update is just around the corner, we would like to introduce you to a few selected features of the Q3 2022 update that, in our opinion, make working with the SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) facilitate and improve the most.
story design
Dynamic selection of all members in the chart filter within the Optimized Design Experience
If the Optimized Design Experience is selected in a story, the local filter of a chart is dynamically updated when a new member is added to or deleted from the dimension. The prerequisite for this is that the selection "All Members" has been selected in the filter. The function also applies to new versions.
The feature is not supported in the SAC in:
- Live BW data models
- Multi-level hierarchies
- Classic design experience
Leaves Only display for the Account Dimension
What was previously possible for the other dimension types has now also been made possible for the account dimension. Users can only display the leaf accounts in a table. The feature also works with multiple account hierarchies and with both data model types (classic and measure-based).

Multi-language support for master data
This feature allows you to create your dimension descriptions in up to 49 different languages. This allows global customers to present the information to all their end users in their local language. These are manual entries of text in other languages, it is not an automatic translation feature. Activation is done in the dimension details.
Hide the "Not in Hierarchy" node
The "Not in Hierarchy" node can now be hidden in generic as well as organizational dimensions. If it is disabled, it will be hidden in both the modeler and the story.
Planning in the SAC
Abort running data actions
A helpful feature was installed here by SAP, especially for the developers. Running Data Actions can now be interrupted via the Data Action Monitor regardless of the status. In this way, unnecessary waiting due to unwanted loops and other programming errors can be avoided in the future.
Data Import Step in Multi Actions
With this feature, planners can simplify workflows by defining data imports as a step of a multi-action. This can then be triggered from the calendar, a story or an application. This means that several planning steps can be combined into one action, which makes operation faster and more convenient.
Other
Transfer of Ownership of Files
BI admins can use this extension to transfer ownership of folders and files from one user to another. This can be especially useful when a user leaves the company and their files need to be shared among multiple users. There is also an option to send email notifications when ownership is updated.
